Comments to “Billy Sheehan Bass Solo!”

  1. I may or may not agree, but it's rather refreshing to see someone comment the way you do... I hate when people just comment things like "He's a fag!", without actually saying WHY they think that. =) Anyway, for the record, yeah, I think Billy is a little...too much...but he's cool, I like him. =P
  2. BTW Billy is no longer working with Steve Vai I'm told. Steve Vai sacked him when he got back from Asia.So he is out on his own once again. Story of his life.I'm sure Niacin will keep the breadcrumbs coming in. Sorry for the sarcasm but I cannot stand musicians who are indirectly responsible for the deluge of crap from new artists that comes to our tables every day. Chow people
  3. Here is one of the greats far beyond the imagination of Billy. Type "Ray Brown - Solo Bass on "Black Orpheus" into Youtube and dissolve some brilliance on a bass. Every note felt and every note made count and remembered. Remember no frets to guide you, eyes closed. Rock bass players have destroyed the essence of what bass is about. Invest some time in the old jazz bass players and you will be unique. That's all folks.!
  4. There are so many music artists on cocaine these days that they are cheating their audience who pay good money to see them. He is also a raving Scientologist which shouldn't have anything to do with the fact, weren't it for the hypicrosy of drugs. This is getting away from the point. Advice: Play what you feel inside you. Not what's in your head or brain or trying to emulate others. Be individual and you will be successful.
  5. Again. I'm only giving advice. People do not have to take the advice, but if you play like Billy they way he has played over the last 20 years no record company will ever sign you unless you happen to shag the company owner's daughter. Billy is the way he is and plays the way he does only because of drugs and for bass players to emulate him is not good therapy. He's not alone.
  6. A beautiful pattern or phrase of music is completely destroyed by 'egoantics' as we call them. A failure to hold a moment in music seperates the greats of music. Steve Vai showed his brilliance when with an orcehstra recently. Billy wasn't invited. A Bass/keyboard player & drummer jamming in front of an audience is not my cup of tea especially with no cognitive belief by the musicians themselves. A band live that looks like their in the backyard jammin' is not a live band.
  7. Ok Sebacito89. I work in the music industry. My opinion is just my opinion. People do not have to take it in. I'm only giving advice to musicians coming up the ranks. I know of Niacin and Billy's history and my opinion combines all this knowledge. Billy is what industry execs call a 'mirage'. One second you see a great bass player and then the next second you see a guy who cares not what he plays.
  8. Billy = The best!!!!!!!!!!!! Is the best Bass Player in the world like Geddy Lee
  9. I totally understand what you mean, but allow me to say something in response. Your statement is based on what you saw on THIS video. With Steve Vai, or Mr. Big, Sheehan is, to some, just another shredder. But check out Niacin, where he plays with Dennis Chambers on drums and John Novello on the keyboards, and then tell us what you think.
  10. Here is a heads up on a talented Bass Player. Look up "Amazing bassist in Piazza Navona (Rome)" on youtube. If you were an A&R person, who would you sign. This Bass Player or Billy Sheehan? If you sign Billy your record company sacks you. Instead of Billy shredding with guitar players on stage why not pick a bass player off the street. Why, because Billy would be shown up for what he really is. An 80s guitarist.!
  11. Be like Billy and you will not get a record contract. That's a promise. Why else is Billy where he is and has been for decades. The same ole same ole Billy. If you think an A&R person would sign a nut like this, you are badly mistaken.
  12. "If you was hit by a truck and lying in the gutter dying and there was time to sing one song. One people will remember you before you're dirt. One song that tells God what you thought about your time here on earth, one song that sums up what you are. Are you telling me that's what you'd sing? Hm The same thing everyone sings.. or would you sing about something you felt. Because that's the kinda song people want to hear".
  13. He should be an example to the rest of you, of what can happen when you have lost touch with your instrument. Bit like the Coyote chasing the Roadrunner. The Coyote is Billy- stupid and souless, while the Roadrunner has the brains and character of for example Stu Hamm. He is just an example; there are many much more talented than Billy out there. The famous scene in "Walk the Line" sums it up.
  14. Billy is so far gone he doesn't know when one note is more than sufficient in a passage or phrase. He could be one of the greats if he would just lay off the coke. He can't sit still when interviewed and its more than obvious he will never get back. Lost like the other cke header Malmsteen. Quite sad really. These characters waste their careers and forget the reason why they picked up the instrument in the first place.
  15. This is exactly what happened to all the nuts who sped around the fretboard in the late eighties trying to be faster than EVH. No one remembers these cartoon characters. Why, because they were all the same. Lightning fast chops but 0% emotion. If Billy was to be thrown into any Professional Jazz Band or South American Band with highly complex rhythms he would be lost like Alice in Wonderland.
  16. All this animosity. Shows your intelligence girls when you cant link two sentences together without f***in someone! You lot better find someone quick to emulate, because if you have this guy as your idol you will become lost among the great bassists of today and yesteryear.
  17. there is no rhythmical phrasing........
  18. The best is digiorgio
  19. watch a video "BURN(deep purple cover)"
  20. you fucking looser´s just stop the fucking critics i just want to see u making something like that assholes you´re so fucking selfish
  21. this guys damn good but im not really fealing it sounds too much like a really low guitar my favorite is still les claypool with his slapstyle and what not id go as far as saying hes the best but it really depends on tast
  22. the best bassist of all times
  23. uhm....holy shit
  24. You're right. I don't get the appeal here. Then again. He directly compared his playing to Eddie Van Halen, someone whom I hold deep content for. Sheehan isn't one of the best. Technically skilled, but what's the point of having great brushstroke technique when all you want to do is paint random crap with no meaning?
  25. If you don't want billy, don't comment!!!
